Wilnecote Weekly Update - 5th June 2026

{item_alt_tag}

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another extremely busy week at Wilnecote Juniors, with lots of fantastic learning taking place across the school. A big thank you to all of the Year 3 parents who came along to the TTRS meetings, it was lovely to see so many of you there. Learning times tables is such an important part of maths, and any support you can give at home really helps build your child’s confidence and understanding.

Attendance

We want to celebrate the fantastic commitment our children have shown to their learning this year through excellent attendance. Regular attendance makes such a positive difference to progress, confidence and wellbeing. As a special recognition, all children who have achieved 96% attendance or above by the end of the year will receive an attendance certificate to celebrate this achievement.

Summer Fair

As you are aware, due to the recent unsettled weather, we were unfortunately unable to go ahead with our Summer Fair as planned. However, we are delighted to share that it has been rescheduled to Thursday 2nd July. It will be the same wonderful event, filled with all the fun activities, games and stalls we had prepared.

Raffle

Thank you to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket. We had over 800 entries with some fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

Prizes can be collected from the office at the juniors. Here are the winning tickets:

If you are one of the lucky winners, prizes can be collected from the main office.

Water Safety

As the warmer weather arrives, children naturally look forward to spending more time outdoors. While water can be great fun, it also presents serious dangers, especially in natural environments.

We would like to remind all families that children should never enter natural water sources such as lakes, rivers or reservoirs unless they are in a location that is properly supervised by lifeguards and/or trained staff. These environments can pose hidden risks, including strong currents, sudden drops, cold temperatures and unseen hazards beneath the surface.

It is important that children understand that even if water looks calm or inviting, it may not be safe. Clear guidance, close adult supervision, and choosing designated, supervised swimming areas are essential for keeping children safe.

Children will receive an assembly discussing this, but we kindly request that you reinforce these messages at home so we can help ensure all children enjoy the outdoors safely as the weather improves.

The Big Picture

The Children's Commissioner has launched 'The Big Picture' which is a national survey collecting the views of children under the age of 18.  If you would like to complete this survey with your child, please use this link: About this survey : The Big Future survey - have your say!

Police Cadets

We’re excited that our Year 6 pupils have been invited to join the Staffordshire Police Junior Cadets Programme, led by PCSOs here in school. Over six fun afternoon sessions, children will build confidence, teamwork, and safety awareness while exploring topics such as community values and making positive choices. At the end, they’ll receive a certificate and a pin badge to celebrate their achievement!

The House Champions this week were Team MacGregor.

The class with the best attendance was class Lewis 99.2%

The class with the highest number of readers was class Shakespeare and Pearce 96%

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Harridence
